The Map is not the Territory

The Map is not the Territory, means that reality is subjective. That Life is only what we each make of it, in other words, we can only interpret Life according to the point of view we individually understand from all the information we were exposed to, during all that we have ever seen, experienced, and still undergo and always will throughout our individual existence.
This is the default position, it’s not fixed and doesn’t mean we can’t operate it. Most of us just don’t know how. The aim of all “Talking Therapies”, (CBT, NLP (…)) is exactly that so we can learn to lose the attachment to our own limited, personal examination, that we confirm, again, according to our own biases.
Incoherency tends to flood the stream of thoughts and imagery when confronted with additional information that threatens the already settled structures, and resistance, although futile, (live long and prosper 😉) seems to be the only response available in the face of unexperiences of the inexperienced.
But resistance is the only cause of suffering. Change is inevitable but suffering is optional. Progress, renewal, and evolution or stagnation, tedium, boredom, and apathy? What do you choose. Most people at this point will insist that; “It’s just the way it is. This is the hand I have been given”. But guess what, there are 52 cards in each deck, meaning that the total possible combinations would equal 52! (52 factorial) which is equal to 8.06e+67. This number is MASSIVE. So, much so that some people won’t be able to wrap their heads around it without an explanation. I will spare you that, but available on request. To conform with the 1-option that one dimly sees as the “Only way”, is, what? -Self-flagellation? Surely.
When the uncertainty is undoubtedly resounding, back we go to our own limited way of thinking, convinced that the Map is the Territory. The emptiness of the Limbo is scary. I understand. Being detached in the ambiguous recognition of the infinite flexible ways of perceiving can be frightening. Not everyone is ready or open to react positively to the compulsory cycle’s turn in the chaos between the constant flow of cessation and creation. But comes September, I am yet to hear Mother Nature say: “Screw it I ain’t shedding leaves off trees this year”. Or Comes Spring, and Nature just won’t pop out all them berries and New foliage. Excusing Its failures to recognise new requirements, wrapping its fears in a disguise of: “What’s the freaking point, am I right?”
